Why Repatriate?

Settling in Armenia is a decision that will improve your life. Whether you do it for a better quality of life, professional growth, or simply want to relocate your family to a better place, moving to Armenia is the right decision.
Once you decide to live in Armenia there are benefits available to you as a repat that not everyone can access, such as career growth, a better quality of life, and community networks.
Quality of Life
No matter where you come from, moving to Armenia will likely be an improvement. Armenia is rich in nature, culture, food, community, and opportunities (often all at the same time). Rather than tell you how wonderful it is, here are just some of the experiences repats have had that they don’t get from their parent country.
“I remember sitting at a cafe with a handful of friends and pretty soon other friends of ours would pass by and sit down with us. After some laughs and food, each of us eventually left and went on our own way. When I walked by hours later, I saw a whole new set of my friends sitting at that same table. Turns out we were just cycling through, and that summer afternoon ended up becoming one of my favorite happenstance moments I ever had.”

“I work in an office with about 70 people coming and going every day and my biggest problem is having to refuse delicious treats. I had no idea that in Armenia it was normal to treat people on your birthday and so I have tasted the pastries from every bakery in Yerevan, and I am not disappointed.”

“I was sitting down on a bench just taking a break from a walk. When I got a call from a friend asking if I wanted to go to a village tomorrow. The next day we drove into the Armenian countryside and I found myself in a small backyard where the family was having a barbeque and drinking and dancing. Honestly there was more vibrant joy in that backyard than the Christmas markets in Strasbourg.”

In general repats almost unanimously say that they enjoy their life in Armenia more than outside of it. Whether it's the fresher and more natural food, incredible nature, or a wonderful community, Repats often experience a more purposeful life, better mental health, and a stronger connection to nature.
Grow as a Professional
One thing we always tell perspective repats is to not immigrate to Armenia unless you are going to grow professionally. The truth is however, that everyone who makes an effort in their career does grow professionally; often developing their professional skills faster and better than if they were in their parent country.
We have comprehensive articles on how to find work in Armenia, how to cultivate your business, and how to move to Armenia, but it is enough to say that Armenia is a center for professional growth on a global scale. The World Bank, International Monetary Fund, Council of Europe, and the EU have all published articles stating the benefits of professional growth in Armenia.
It truly does not matter what your career path is, there is a demand for every kind of professional in Armenia. Whether you are a programmer seeking a job in the tech industry, or a dancer looking to perform your craft, there are many accounts of repats coming to Armenia and finding the opportunities to finally showcase their talents and skills.
On a personal note, Armenia as a republic is only 33 years old, and after decades of pain and struggle, the country is beginning to step out onto the world stage, and needs Armenian men and women to enrich her with their international mindsets and desire to achieve. There is a demand for you, no matter your path.
You are not alone
If we have learned anything in the past several years is that we all need community, and in Armenia, community is everything. Historically, Armenians have survived by staying by each other through the endless hardships, local Armenians have an ingrained sense of community that will welcome you.
You can expect to know your neighbors as well as you know your friends, and the relationships you will have with your coworkers in Armenia will be much more enjoyable and friendly than with your coworkers from your parent country.
But it's not just the local atmosphere that will welcome you. There is a vast network of repats from around the world that are ready to network and grow with you. At Repat Armenia, we are routinely putting on events to bring repatriated Armenians together, as we are a constant resource for all Armenians around the world.
Besides Repat Armenia, there are 3 other main resources that repats can take advantage of when immigrating to Armenia.
Diaspora High Commissioner's Office
The Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, offers repats many government resources to make their transition and stay smoother. The office often holds events including the Diaspora Summit, a global conference that invites prominent Armenians from around the world to participate in discussions and panels to help grow Armenia.
If you plan to start a business or any sort of philanthropy, the Office for Diaspora Affairs can assist with all factors of integration, they are also responsible for certain tax breaks offered to repats to encourage immigrating to Armenia.
Repatriation and Integration Center
The Repatriation and Integration Center is the brainchild of the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs and the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation. The goal being to offer repats a place where they can learn and take advantage of government resources from a more accessible and personable environment.
The RIC can support you with citizenship and residency permits, employment and work permits, moving personal belongings, healthcare, education, social services, military conscription, customs, taxes, and establishing or relocating business equipment.
