But while you may think that the apps you use in your home country will be just as good once you’re living in Armenia, you may be mistaken. For instance, in many countries, Facebook is a thing of the past, but in Armenia it is an essential tool for networking and asking questions. Uber? Not in Armenia, sorry! You’ll have to use an alternative app for zooming around the city. Keep reading to learn which applications will make your life easier when visiting or living in Armenia.
Transportation
This application sets out most public transportation options in Yerevan, including buses, trolleybuses or microbuses. The app is also available in English, is completely free and has no ads!
While Google Maps does work in Armenia, Yandex Maps tends to be more reliable when it comes to the best route options and the length of your journey. This is the mobile version of www.e-citizen.am that allows all citizens to access news and proclamations from the government, check their status, and pay fines, etc. Basically, it’s a must have.
This website allows you to send an application and monitor the progress of a case without having to visit government agencies. You can also make a request, complaint or book a visit, saving a lot of time.
This website is especially important when you first move to Armenia. It has an online queuing function to use the services provided at the Migration and Citizenship Service Administrative Office where passport-related procedures are carried out. These include applications for obtaining and terminating RA citizenship. It also provides services related to residency and visas to foreign citizens.
Language
Nayiri is a digital dictionary that allows you to immediately translate words from English or French to Eastern or Western Armenian, and vice versa. It’s very useful when you need to look up a word quickly.
